Obituary of Samantha "Sam" Gladden

LUGOFF- A funeral service for Samantha “Sam” Reese Gladden, 15, will be held Sunday at 6:00 p.m. at Lugoff First Baptist Church. The Rev. Gene Hancock will officiate. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 4-6 p.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lugoff-Elgin Marching Band.

Sam passed away on Wednesday, August 23, 2023. Born in Hartsville, SC, she was the daughter of Jason and Theresa Gladden. She played flute in the L-E concert band and enjoyed the marching band at Lugoff-Elgin High School where this was her first year as captain and she has been a member of the Winter Guard since 6^th grade and the Color Guard since 8^th grade. She would always carry her favorite stuffed animal, Soybean, with her to competitions. She practiced hard but loved harder.

Sam was loving, softhearted and artistic. She enjoyed drawing, making bracelets and spending time with her brother and her friends.  She gave the best hugs in the world and loved animals, especially her dog “Rowdy.”

     Surviving are her parents, Jason and Theresa Gladden of Lugoff; brother, Jacob Gladden of Lugoff; and grandmother, Judy Gladden. She was predeceased by paternal grandfather, Loran Gladden; and maternal grandparents, Robert and Rose Blackwell.
