Obituary of Lloyd Lue Nixon

Lloyd Lue Nixon, 94, of Camden, passed away on Sunday, August 13, 2023. Born in Fort Collins, CO, he was the son of the late Albert and Myrtle E. Nixon. Proudly the husband of 62 years to the love of his life, the late Elfriede Blask Nixon. Continuing his family legacy of military service, Lloyd was a proud US Army veteran, retiring after a career of over 20 years. After his retirement, Lloyd remained passionate about serving veterans, often helping with the Wounded Warrior Project. He was a skilled craftsman and enjoyed woodworking. Lloyd liked traveling, camping, fishing, working in his yard, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved coffee, ice cream, and animals, especially his cats. Above all, Lloyd was a generous person with a heart for helping people and sharing his talents.

Lloyd is survived by his son, Roland Nixon (Sheri); grandchildren, Jessica Geiger (Derrick) and Katie McManus (Josh); great-grandchildren, Ella Geiger, Claire Geiger, and Hank Geiger; close family friends, Susan Letchworth and Olivia and Martin Caudill; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and his Camden First Baptist Church Sunday School Class, the Choir Room Class.

In addition to his wife and parents, Lloyd was preceded in death by his siblings, George Nixon, Willard Nixon, Dillard Nixon, Dorothy Nixon, Roy Nixon, and Lavenia Holcomb.

The family will receive friends from 6-7pm on Wednesday, August 16, 2023 at Powers Funeral Home. A Graveside Service with military honors will be held at 10:00am on Thursday, August 17, 2023 at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, officiated by Rev. Evan Smith.
