Obituary of David Carson Ray
David Carson Ray, 73, entered into rest on Sunday, July 30, 2023. Born in Camden, SC on August 31, 1949, he was the son of the late Henry Edward Ray and the late Mary Elizabeth Corbett Ray.
Also known as the “yard man” (his CB handle), Mr. Ray was an army veteran who served in Vietnam as well as a retired truck driver. He drove locally for Standard Warehouse, BullDog Trucking, Builders Transport, Land Air, and Pennington Seed.
Mr. Ray is survived by his daughter, Mary Ann Ray DeLong (Nathan) of Lugoff; step-daughter, Jackie Powell (Robert) of Lugoff; granddaughter, Briana Logan (Cierra); his grandsons, Trevor Jackson (Cailey Lynn), Wesley Jackson (Savannah), and Blake De Long (Erin); great-granddaughters, Nevaeh Logan, Soraya Logan, and Tallulah Jackson; a great-grandson, Benjamin Ecker; sisters, Sherrie Ray of Lugoff and Patsy Ray of Camden; and his "adopted by love" grandson, Matthew Clem.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Ray was predeceased by his loving wife, Idell Humphries Ray, whom he missed greatly, his brother, Roger Ray; and his nephew, Kelvin Ray.
A memorial service will be held at 6:00pm on Friday, August 4, 2023, at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff. The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service.
