Obituary of Van "Darrell" C. Hopkins

CAMDEN – Van Hopkins, 73, passed away on Wednesday, June 28, 2023.  Born in Hartsville, SC, he was the son of the late Colon and Inez Hopkins.

He enjoyed fishing and golf. Van was known at work as “Hop” and by his family as “Darrell.” He served his nation in Vietnam in the Army. He retired from Dupont and also worked for Quality Beverage.

Surviving are his wife of 49 years, to the day,  Cathrine Hopkins; a daughter, Christine Hopkins Sanders; grandchildren, Kaylee Nicole Sanders and Maya Leighann Sanders; a brother, Edward P. Dixon; heart daughter, Karen Troublefield (Brad); heart grandchildren, Reagan E Troublefield and Matthew A Troublefield. He was predeceased by sisters; Diane Catoe, Valerie Hopkins, and Jena Lee Hopkins.   

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 1, 2023, at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church in Camden, SC.  The family will receive friends at the church following the service.
