Obituary of Jay'Vion Jaquez Mayrant

Jay’Vion Jaquez Mayrant, 19, gained his wings on Sunday, June 25, 2023. Born in Camden, SC on August 22, 2003, he was the son of Quintina Rembert of Camden, SC and Willie Mayrant, Jr. of Sumter, SC. Jay’Vion was educated in the public schools of Kershaw County, graduating from Camden High School in 2021. He attended Camden First United Methodist Church. Jay’Vion enjoyed playing basketball and video games and he loved his siblings dearly. Even though his life would seem too short to many, those who were touched by him understand that the quality of his existence far exceeded the quantity of time that he lived. His gentle smile could melt the hearts of those around him and though he never spoke a word, his voice and thoughts could always be heard.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Asiana Rembert; four great-grandmothers, Louella Johnson, Lourine Mack, Sadie Stuckey, and Pauline Mayrant; and four great-grandfathers, Clarence Johnson, Roosevelt Mack, Robert Mayrant, and Sam Stuckey, Jr.

In addition to his parents, Jay’Vion leaves to cherish his precious memory his loving stepfather, Julius Rembert of Camden, SC; two loving grandmothers, Barbara Stuckey of Camden, SC and Rosa Mayrant of Sumter, SC; two loving grandfathers Russell Stuckey and Willie Mayrant, Sr. of Sumter, SC; four sisters, Serenity Rembert of Camden, SC,  Alexis Osborne of Sumter, SC, Arianna Dinkins of Sumter, SC, and Chy’Asia Mayrant of Sumter, SC; four brothers, Ja’Quarius Mayrant of Camden, SC,  Malik Rembert of Sumter, SC, Marcus Westberry of Sumter, SC, and A’rmani Mayrant of Sumter, SC; as well as a host of aunts, uncles, friends, and cousins, all from Camden, SC and Sumter, SC.

A Public Viewing will be held from 12pm - 3pm on Sunday, July 2, 2023 at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff.

A Homegoing Service will be held at 11:00am on Monday, July 3, 2023 at Camden First United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Quaker Cemetery, Camden, SC.
