Obituary of Glenda Long Gates

Glenda Long Gates, 73, of Elgin, passed away on Wednesday, June 21, 2023. Born in Cambria, IL, she was the daughter of the late Clyde Ernest and Essie Davey Long, and the wife of William Murdaugh Gates. Glenda attended Grace Life Church. She worked for over 40 years as a Surgical Technician in various SC hospitals, before retiring from Palmetto Health Richland in 2010. She enjoyed The Beatles, popcorn, shopping, and taking trips to the beach. Glenda had a great sense of humor and her greatest joy in life was being a grandmother.

In addition to her husband, Glenda is survived by her children, Timothy Lemoine (Becky) and Hannah Gates (Darren); grandchildren, Clyde Lemoine and Haven Mattox; and great-grandchildren, Charlie Gates, Jonah Gates, and Simon Gates.

In addition to her parents, Glenda was preceded in death by her daughter, Lesley Lemoine; and siblings, Judith Taska and David Long.

The family will hold a memorial service at a later date.
