Obituary of Billy Gene Johnson

On Sunday, June 11, 2023, our beloved Billy Gene Johnson entered eternal rest at his home in Camden, SC, at the age of 68.

Billy Johnson was born to the late Lula and Cliff Johnson, Sr. on February 11, 1955. He was educated in the public schools of Kershaw County. He retired in 2020 from Canfor (New South), where he had worked for over 25 years. Billy was a loving and outspoken person who really loved his family and helped those in need. Billy loved to sit on his porch and greet everyone who passed by. He was a pillar in the community and will be deeply missed.

He leaves to cherish his memories his brother and sister, Richard Johnson (Barbara Ann) and Linda Johnson, both of Camden, SC; his stepson, Marvin Lewis (Marylene) of Lancaster, SC; step-grandchildren, Larry Lewis (Tonya) and Ashley Lewis, both of Camden, SC; his step-great-grandson whom he raised, Markeil Lewis of Camden, SC; seven other step-great-grandchildren; nephew, Brian Johnson (Ebony); nieces, Stephanie Hunter, Gloria Johnson, and Shawanda Johnson, all of Camden, SC; great-nephews, Jamal, Quan, Martrell, Tyrease, and Zyquez, all of Camden, SC; great-nieces, Santora Johnson and Day’shia Hunter, both of Camden, SC; and a host of other nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

In addition to his parents, Billy leaves this world to join in eternal life with his sister, Barbara Johnson; and brother, Clifton Johnson, Jr.

A Public Viewing will be held from 10am-3pm on Saturday, June 17, 2023 at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff.

Graveside Services will be held at 1:00pm on Monday, June 19, 2023 at Cedar Cemetery, Camden.
