Obituary of George Royal, Sr.
On Tuesday, June 6, 2023, God sent an angel to escort George Royal Sr. home.
He was born on August 2, 1943, in Boykin, South Carolina to parents, Letha Patterson and Kelly Royal (deceased).
George was raised by his maternal grandmother, Ella Patterson in Camden, South Carolina.
He was educated in the Kershaw County school system, where he attended Jackson High School in Camden, South Carolina, before joining his mother, Letha Patterson Reinhardt and his father, Wilson Reinhardt, Sr. in Brooklyn, New York.
In New York, George attended classes to become an electrician. He also was a manager at a popular food chain restaurant, Chock Full of Nuts. After returning to South Carolina, George worked at the Holiday Inn in Lugoff, South Carolina. He also worked for Cogsdill Tools in Lugoff, South Carolina, where he eventually retired.
George enjoyed music, cooking and working with his hands. He loved helping others, especially his friends, neighbors, and church members. George faithfully attended Greater Faith and Joy Tabernacle in Lugoff, where he was a member of the Deacon Board, a trustee, armour-bearer to the pastor, videographer, and was a member of the Pastor’s Aide Club.
He is survived by his sons, Anthony Taylor of Rembert, SC, Tracey Nathaniel of Augusta, GA, and Trent Nathaniel of Rock Hill, SC; and their mother, the late Carol Royal; sons, George Royal, Jr. of Charlotte, NC and Robin Royal of Williston, SC; and their mother, Virginia Royal; siblings, Janet Dawkins of New York, Mary O’Brien of Henderson, NC, Delores Reinhardt of California, and Wilson Reinhardt, Jr. of New York; 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins; as well as special loved ones, Virginia Royal and Cora Kelley.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Roslyn Royal-Singleton.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00pm on Saturday, June 17, 2023 at Greater Faith and Joy Tabernacle in Lugoff, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church an hour prior to the service, beginning at 11:00am.
