Obituary of Joan Blondell Christensen

RIDGEWAY – Graveside service for Joan Blondell Christensen, 87, will be held at 2:00pm on Monday, April 10, 2023 in Centerville Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Sunday 5:00-6:30 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff.  Memorials may be made to Amedysis Hospice.

Mrs. Christensen, wife of the late Hayward Samuel Christensen, passed away on Thursday, April 6, 2023.  Born in Pontiac, she was the daughter of the late Charles Edward and Bertha Peak Kelly.  She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Ridgeway Ward.  She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who adored her family.

Surviving are her children, Steve Christensen (Kay) of Lexington, Bruce Christensen of Asheville, N.C., Valerie Kirkley of Phoenix, Ariz., and Dana Christensen (Patti) of Columbia, S.C.; 9 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.  She was predeceased by sons, Mark Christensen and Randall Christensen; grandson, Kevin Christensen; and brothers, Lavern Kelly, Melvin Kelly, Carl Kelly, A.C. Kelly, Jason Kelly and Edward Kelly.
