Obituary of Louise "Sue" Mitchell

Louise “Sue” Mitchell, of Rembert, SC passed away peacefully Friday, March 31, 2023. She was born in Kershaw County and was the daughter of the late Fealor B. Mitchell and Jeff Doby.

As a teenager, her family relocated to New York where she finished her education and decided to study nursing.  Louise worked as a nurse’s assistant for many years. She also had a passion to work with children and worked as a part-time teacher’s aide.  Louise was baptized in 1982 as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Richmond, Virginia.  She enjoyed gardening, planting flowers, cooking, reading, crafting, and spending time with family and friends.

She leaves to cherish her memories, a daughter, Alisa Dixon of Rembert; a son, Joseph Dixon of Rembert; a sister Viola James (David) of Charlotte, NC; a granddaughter, Brittany Dixon-White (Jamal) of Sumter; 3 great-grands, Amaria, Aniylah and Messiah; and a host of other children she loved like her own, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Louise was preceded in her death by three sisters and two brothers; Rosa Lee Mitchell, Amanda Porter, Rosa Lee Hampton, Robert Mitchell Jr., and Frederick Mitchell and two sisters-in-law Anna Mitchell and Julia Mitchell.

A funeral service we be held, Saturday, April 8, 2023 at 4:00 PM at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff, SC. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
