Obituary of James Jart Anderson

James Jart Anderson, 82, of Bethune, and formerly of Ramstein-Miesenbach, Germany, passed away on Thursday, March 9, 2023. Born in Cassatt, SC, he was the son of the late Joe Richard and Annie Bell Anderson, and the husband of 58 years to Roswitha Maria Anderson. James retired as a Master Sergeant with the US Air Force after 24 years of faithful service. After his retirement, he worked as a Civil Servant with the US Government for another 20 years before retiring for the final time. James traveled to multiple countries during his time in the military, including stops in Japan, Spain, Norway, Turkey, and Germany. He was a quiet and patient man who always worked hard at whatever he did. He also loved the outdoors, being in nature, and his wife’s German cooking. After moving back to Bethune, James volunteered with the United Way and their Food for the Soul program. He and his wife also attended the Council On Aging in Bethune. Above all, James cherished spending time with his family. They would often gather to play games and enjoyed traveling together, even taking their very first cruise in May of 2022.

In addition to his wife, James is survived by his children, Sandra Henny Anderson (Robert Hutchinson) and Cynthia Lynn Hunter (Avery); a granddaughter, Angelika Nichole Holmes; a great-grandson, Aiden Scott Holmes; his siblings, Thelma Bodiford, Maryann Brown, and David Anderson (Ernestine); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his siblings, Francis Jones, Bobbie McCaskill, Jody Anderson, and Walter Anderson; as well as his grandson, Grayson James Austin.
