Obituary of Mattie Charles

CAMDEN – A wake for Mattie Jeanette Charles, 72, will be held Sunday, February 26, 2023 from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Mrs. Charles passed away at home surrounded by her family on Wednesday, February 22, 2023.  She loved music.

Surviving are her husband, James Albert Charles; sons, Tony Harris, Edward Harris and James Harris; brothers, Henry Harris and Randolph Harris; sister, Mary Jefferson; 6 grandchildren, Jeroy Ellis, Jessica McCain, Joshua Pringle, Serlena Goodwin, Jy’Quavion Malik and Nyheasia Barber; and 4 great-grandchildren, Jeremaih McCain, Janasia Fairley, Amore Ellis and Jasia Ellis.  She was predeceased by L.V. Harris, Nathaniel Harris, Bobbie Harris and Lavin Harris.
