Obituary of Esther Jeffers

COLUMBIA– A time of gathering to celebrate the life of Jannie Esther Jeffers, 78, will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2023 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made  to the American Lung Association or American Cancer Society.

Ms. Jeffers passed away on Tuesday, February 21, 2023.  Born in Spartanburg, she was the daughter of the late Haskell and Ollie Staggs O’Sullivan.  She enjoyed writing music, playing the guitar and spoons, singing, gardening, cooking and fishing.

Surviving are her son, LaVerne R. Verne Jeffers, Jr. (Nicole) ; daughter, Renee J. Wooten; grandchildren, Kelsey Murphy, Cassy Jeffers, Lauren Roland and Britney Burke; 9 great-grandchildren; and her friend and former husband, Buddy Jeffers.  She was predeceased by a granddaughter, Mandy Jeffers; and siblings, Eston O’Sullivan, Caroline Johnson, Betty Schrimsher, Martha Jolly, Dennis O’Sullivan and J.L. O’Sullivan.
