Obituary of Louis George Pazel

Colonel Louis George Pazel (USAFR), 93, of Lugoff, passed away on Sunday, February 5, 2023 at MUSC-Florence. Born in Wayne County, PA, he was the son of the late George and Mildred Cook Pazel. He attended several colleges and earned degrees in business and engineering. He received his Pilot’s Wings and Commission in 1950. During his 30-year military career, Colonel Pazel commanded numerous fighter and tactical units. He served throughout much of the world including Europe, Africa, Japan, Korea, Australia, and Vietnam. He flew more than 150 combat missions. His decorations include the Distinguished Flying Cross with 4 clusters, the Bronze Star, the Meritorious Service Medal, and the Air Medal with 10 clusters.

He was predeceased by his loving wife of 59 years, Gwendolyn. He is survived by their only son, Terry Pazel, of Lugoff; and his cousins, Melissa Evans and Teresa Allen, both of Lake Park, GA.
