Obituary of Laila Rose Houser
Laila Rose Houser, 17, passed away Sunday, January 29, 2023. Born in Columbia, SC she was the daughter of Lonnie Brooks Houser and Stacy Littleton Gullard. Laila was graduating early with plans to pursue an education in teaching. She was on CLC’s leadership team, a peer mentor and volunteered with her school’s outreach program. She loved music and theater and participated in many plays at the Arts Center of Kershaw County in Camden. She was a talented musician and loved to sing in church. Cheerleading was her passion, and she was a competition cheerleader at Spirit Athletics. She was fun-loving, loved her friends and school family dearly, and was full of life.
Left to cherish her memory are her father, Lonnie Brooks Houser (Ashleigh); mother, Stacy Littleton Gullard (Norman); maternal grandparents, Dwight and Joan Littleton; step-grandmother, Marina Gullard; sister, Sullivan Lucille Houser; brother, Jonathan Bernard Gullard; step-brother, Peyton Ennis Feaster; step-sister, Anna Reese Feaster; aunts, Jackie Hopkins (Lynn), Sabrina Free (Rick) and Rosa Downie (Noah); uncle, Chris Gullard (Kat); 14 cousins; and special friends, Summer Arrants, Caroline Vincent, and Maya Ochenduszko.
She was predeceased by paternal grandparents, Betty Greer (James) and Jack Houser Jr.(Nellie); and uncle, Matt Williams.
A celebration of life will be held on Thursday at 3:00 p.m. at Antioch Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive Wednesday 5-7 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Arts Center of Kershaw County .
