Obituary of Juanita Jacobs Lasley

Services for Juanita (Micki) Jacobs Lasley, wife of the late Dr. Floyd Lasley, will be held at 3:00pm on Monday, January 2, 2023, at Harmony Baptist Church, Elgin. Burial will follow in Greenhaven Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the church an hour prior to the service, beginning at 2:00pm.

Juanita (Micki) passed away on Tuesday, December 27, 2022. She was born on August 5, 1928, in Pontiac, SC to the late Glenn T. and Leila Ray Jacobs. Juanita was one of 12 children, 3 of whom are still living. She graduated from Dentsville High School in Columbia, SC and attended Draughon’s Business College as well as the University of South Carolina. Juanita loved the Lord and served as secretary at Wieuca Road Baptist Church, Atlanta, GA, Miami Springs Baptist Church, Miami Springs, FL, and at First Baptist Church, Alexandria, VA, where she met her husband and was married in 1966. Having also served as a secretary for the Boys and Girls Clubs of America and the Future Farmers of America gave her a love for young people. Another one of her loves was singing. Juanita enjoyed singing in all of the choirs of the churches she was secretary of and the Valley Voices Choral of Columbia, SC.

Juanita is survived by her siblings, Octavia Peake of Elgin, SC, Sara Peake of Columbia, SC, and Donnie Jacobs (Lois) of Elgin, SC; her stepson, Larry Lasley (Mary) of Brumley, MO; step-grandson, Christopher Lasley (Christine) of Kirkland, WA; as well as two step-granddaughters, Taylor and Gabriella Lasley, both of Kirkland, WA.

In addition to her husband and parents, Juanita was preceded in death by her siblings, Dot Porth, Thelma Turpin, Louise Hughes, Tootsie Tidwell, Gilbert Jacobs, Elton Jacobs, Frank Jacobs, and Charlie Jacobs.
