Obituary of Paul Stanley Kirkland
LUGOFF – A service to celebrate the life of Paul Stanley Kirkland Sr., 78, will be held on Thursday, December 22, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. at Pine Grove Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The Rev. Eric Boone and the Rev. Phil McCoy will officiate. The family will receive friends Wednesday 5-7 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pine Grove Baptist Church, Gideons International or Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.
Mr. Kirkland passed away at home surrounded by his family on Monday, December 19, 2022. Born in Columbia, he was the son of the late Allen C. Kirkland and Ruby Creola Lee Kirkland. He retired as the owner of Kirkland Wallcoverings. He was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church.
Mr. Kirkland was a faithful Christian who served as a former deacon, elder, Sunday school teacher and youth leader. He was committed to sharing the Gospel and participating in evangelistic ministry. For decades he coached recreational sports in the Midlands, positively influencing young men through the gifts of football and baseball.
Mr. Kirkland was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who cherished every moment with his family. Left to carry his legacy are his wife of 58 years, Diane Hyatt Kirkland; children, Paul Kirkland (Benita) of Easley, Kim Gilstrap (Keith) of Ridgeway, Tanya Morrison (Franklin) of Lugoff and Brian Kirkland (Trisha) of Columbia; brothers, Chris Kirkland (Sue) and Jerry Kirkland (Donna); sisters, Joyce Slagle (Virgil) and Gina Kirkland; 14 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild and 1 great-grand on the way.
