Obituary of James Allen Frye

James Allen Frye, 82, of Columbia, passed away on Thursday, October 27, 2022. Born in Clarendon County, SC, he was the son of the late Allen and Julia Barfield Frye and the husband of the late Peggy Blackwell Frye. James attended Taylor Street Baptist Church in Cayce. He was an avid Gamecock football fan, and he enjoyed traveling, visiting flea markets, and watching old western shows.

He is survived by his daughter, Deborah “Diana” McLaughlin; step-daughter, Denise Stephens (James); his granddaughter, Bree McLaughlin; and his siblings, Pearline Mitchum and Kenny Frye (Coleen).

In addition to his wife and parents, James was preceded in death by his son, Allen Frye; step-son, John Michael Metts; and brother, Larry Frye.

Services will be private.
