Obituary of George E. Harvey

A memorial service for George E. Harvey, 83, will be held on Saturday, November 5, 2022, at 4:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, with a visitation 1hr prior. Memorials may be made to Mt. Olivet Baptist Church or The Baptist Church of Beaufort. 

    Mr. Harvey, husband of the late Patricia Harvey, passed away on Tuesday, October 25, 2022. Born in Columbia, he was the son of the late Andrew Francis Harvey and Margueritte Pedersen Harvey. He was employed by South Carolina Pipeline, later owned by SCANA, for over thirty years where he maintained compressor stations for the natural gas pipelines throughout the state to keep energy flowing to essential industries, hospitals, and homes. He was a master problem-solver and kept a cool head in any situation. Among the kindest of men, he had a gentle, humble soul and lent a helping hand wherever needed. A source of strength and support for family and friends, he will be sorely missed. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, sport shooting, photography, and grilling.

    Surviving is his daughter, Donna H. Moore (Paul); grandchildren, Ben Hinson (Tracy), Chris Hinson (Tracie), Harrison Moore, and Anna Moore; 4 great-grandchildren; siblings, Barbara Motley, Andrew Harvey, Gene Harvey (Sally), and Patricia Barefoot. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his daughters, Georgia Anne Hinson and Carolyn Faye Harvey; sisters, Elizabeth Miller and Elaine Faucher; in-laws, Lee Faucher, John Motley, Pat Harvey, and Roy Barefoot.
