Obituary of Earl Jerry Kersey, Jr.

Earl Jerry Kersey, Jr., 80, of Camden, passed away on Wednesday, October 12, 2022. Born in Camden, he was the son of the late Earl and Levine R. Kersey, and the husband of Ethel “Brenda” Cook Kersey. Earl was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Camden Ward. He was a retired member of Pipefitter Local UA 421, Boilermakers Local 687, the U.S. Air Force, Masonic Lodge of Illinois, Past Master of Masonic Lodge Kershaw 29, a Central Carolina Technical College graduate, and a volunteer firefighter in Industry, PA. Earl enjoyed fishing, working on cars, and politics.

In addition to his wife, Earl is survived by his sons, Earl Jerry Kersey, III (Cindy), David Lyn Kersey (Lori), and Ernest Dean Kersey (Krista); his siblings, Edward Kersey, Kenneth Kersey, Geraldine Whitten, Katie Peebles, and Paula Bare; as well as six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Earl was preceded in death by his sister, Joanne Napper.

The family will receive friends from 5-7pm on Sunday, October 16, 2022, at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00am on Monday, October 17, 2022, at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff, officiated by Mr. Kenneth Kersey. Burial will follow the service in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Camden.
