Obituary of Rebecca Sue Dunn Allen

On Sunday, September 18, 2022, Rebecca Sue Dunn Allen passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family in Lugoff, SC. She was 78 years old. Becky was pre-deceased by her husband, Robert Hogan Allen, who passed in 2005.

Becky was born in Huntsville, AL to parents Woodrow and Dorothy Dunn, and raised in Columbia, SC where she attended Dreher High School and then graduated from the University of South Carolina. She was compassionate and competent, qualities that served her well in her long career with the Social Security Administration. Becky was a lover of nature, and a supporter of the arts—an avid reader, a seasoned traveler, animal lover… She was a gifted gardener and an artist who made quilts, mosaics, and anything else she set her mind to creating. She also loved to find and collect unique, whimsical or beautiful objects. Becky was intelligent, patient, and tenacious, generous and loving. She had an easy laugh.

She will be deeply missed by her three daughters, a son in law, her two cherished grandchildren, her siblings, in-laws, extended family, and dear friends. Memorials may be made to the Arts Center of Kershaw County, or any charity of choice.
