Obituary of Tank Brevard, Sr.

Marion Edward “Tank” Brevard, Sr., 77, of Camden, entered into the presence of The Lord surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, August 9, 2022. Born in Camden, SC on June 11, 1945, Marion was the son of the late James and Sallie C. Brevard, and the husband of 58 years to Mable Sutton Brevard. Tank attended Mather Academy and graduated from Jackson School in 1965. He was a faithful employee of DuPont for 46 years. He enjoyed playing golf, watching CNN and ESPN, and was a fan of NASCAR, football, and basketball. Mr. Brevard was a pillar of his community and was well known for his ’68 Chevy SS. Above all, Mr. Brevard was a devoted husband, father, brother, and friend who took pride in providing for his family.

In addition to his loving wife, Tank is survived by his children, Marion E. Brevard, Jr. (Pamela) of Blythewood, Charles K. Brevard, Sr. (Vickie) of Irmo, Darrell B. Brevard, Sr. (Phyllis) of Rock Hill, Tonia R. Brevard (Kendal) of Columbia, and Joseph S. Brevard, Sr. of Columbia; his grandchildren, Quentel Brevard, Tierra Brevard, Tyler Brevard, Charles Brevard, Jr., Adam Brailsford, Carlton Brailsford, Antwon Brailsford, Caleb Brevard, Antaria Austin, Darrell Brevard, Jr., Tiyonna Cooke, Tayjawn Brevard, Kendal Hannon, Jr., Chauntice Corbin, Joseph Brevard, Jr., and Michael Sims; siblings, Patricia Mitchell of Elgin, Doris B. Wilson of Camden, and Margaret Mills (Robert) of Columbia; as well as fourteen great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Brevard was preceded in death by his brothers, Leon H. Brevard, Michael J. Brevard, and James Brevard, Jr.; sisters, Carolyn B. Moody, Josephine Jackson, Sallie Clark, and Helen B. Lightford; and his grandson, Davaris White.

The family will receive friends from 6-8pm on Thursday, August 18, 2022, at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff. Homegoing Services will be held at 1:00pm on Friday, August 19, 2022, at Camden First United Methodist Church. Burial will follow the service in Cedar Cemetery, Camden.
