Obituary of Waylon Douglas Ritch, Sr.

Waylon Douglas Ritch, Sr., 51, of Lugoff, passed away on Friday, August 5, 2022. Born in Richland County, he was the son of Carolyn Joan Chavis Bowen and the late Colie B. Bowen, and the husband of Rhonda Mattox Ritch. Waylon worked in construction all his life. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. He enjoyed drawing, coloring, hanging out with his friends, and was a die-hard gamecock fan. Most of all, Waylon loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Waylon is survived by his children, Meagan Necole Ritch, Lauren Dale Ritch, and Waylon Douglas Ritch, Jr. (Taylor); his grandchildren, Quavion Fulks, Laykin Ritch, Kash Harris, and Waylon “Wes” Ritch; siblings, Sharolyn Frost and Chad Bowen (Carmen); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his father, Waylon was preceded in death by his in-laws, Johnny and Janice Mattox; his nephew, Scottie Butler; and his grandmother, Sue Rabon.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00pm on Tuesday, August 23, 2022, at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff. The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service, beginning at 1:00pm. Burial will follow the service in Hardshell Cemetery.
