Obituary of Donnie Hugh Etters

Donnie Hugh Etters, 71, of Kershaw, passed away on Thursday, August 4, 2022. Born in Kershaw on January 21, 1951, he was the son of the late Alfred “Shorty” Etters and Connie Hunter Etters Adair, and the husband of Reba Watts Etters. Donnie was a longtime member of Refuge Baptist Church in Kershaw. He loved watching NASCAR, golf and tennis, and was an avid rabbit hunter. His favorite dog was his beloved beagle, Maggie. He was a skilled carpenter who enjoyed his work even through his illness. Donnie loved country cooking, especially chicken and dumplings. He was a jokester with a great sense of humor who never met a stranger. Above all, Donnie loved his family dearly, and cherished time spent hanging out with his brothers or visiting with his grandchildren. He was a wonderful husband, father, brother, and friend who will be deeply missed.

In addition to his wife, Donnie is survived by his children, Andy Etters (Rosie), Matthew Etters (Sara), and Jennifer Etters; step-children, Kenneth Wayne Baker, Jr. and Raymond Scott Baker (Deann); grandchildren, Carolina, Olivia, Emma, Ethan, and Eric; step-grandchildren, Triston, Bryce, Natalie, and Jaylen; his siblings, Randy Etters (Donna), Nathan Etters (Janet), Alvin Etters (Maureen), Sylvia Moseley (Cleon), and Angela Etters; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, August 9, 2022, at Refuge Baptist Church, Kershaw, officiated by Rev. Evan Smith. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service, beginning at 10:00am. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery.
