Obituary of Roger Ray

CASSATT- A funeral service for Roger D. Ray, 77, will be held Friday at 3:00 p.m. at Beaverdam Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The Rev. Keith Stott will officiate. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2-3 p.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Alzheimer’s Association or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

    Mr. Ray passed away on August 2, 2022. Born in Camden, he was a son of the late Angus and Annie Kate Hall Ray. Mr. Ray was a member of Beaverdam Baptist Church, served in the Army National Guard and retired from DuPont. He enjoyed walking, being outside, tinkering in his workshop, spending time with his family, and was an avid Clemson Tiger fan.

    Surviving are his sons, Gregory Ray (Gwen) of Lugoff, Derrick Ray of Beaufort, Jason Ray of Cassatt; siblings, brothers, Charles Ray of Bethune, Benny Ray (Vivian) of Lake Wateree; sisters, Elaine Robertson (Bruce) of Cassatt, Debbie Blackwell (Jim) of Bethune; and 5 grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brothers, David Ray and Rendel Ray; and sisters, Goldie Mosley and Susan Moseley.
