Obituary of Bobby Durant Baird

Bobby Durant Baird, 78, of Camden, passed away on Monday, June 13, 2022. Born in Turbeville, SC, he was the son of the late Brady Floyd and Teany Bell Baird, and the husband of 49 years to Emmie Sue Jordan Baird. Bobby retired from Dupont after 28 years. He also worked as a sub-contractor building houses. Bobby was always full of life and loved joking and making people laugh. He enjoyed singing karaoke, especially the classics like Conway Twitty and George Jones. He was an avid Gamecock fan, and he also enjoyed fishing and traveling. Above all, Bobby loved his family and would always put them first. He was a loving and generous husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who will be deeply missed.

In addition to his wife, Bobby is survived by his children, Tina Rollins (Lee) of Bishopville, Tony Baird (Renea) of Hartsville, Jay Huggins (Marty) of Camden, Timmy Baird (Janet) of Bishopville, and Suzanne B. Arthur (Tommy) of Camden; his siblings, Janice Davis, Joyce Watkins, Gail Davis, and Jimmy Baird; as well as eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Bobby was preceded in death by his brother, Jackson Baird.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, June 16, 2022, at Malvern Hill Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Joe Stines and Rev. Lorenzo Dinkins. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm on Wednesday, June 15, 2022, at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff.
