Obituary of Thomas Edward Cassady
BETHUNE – Funeral service for Thomas Edward Cassady, 91, will be held Tuesday 3:00 p.m. at Cassatt Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The Rev. Dean Elliott will officiate. The family will receive friends Monday 5-7 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff. Memorials may be made to Cassatt Baptist Church.
Mr. Cassady, husband of the late Doris Humphrey Cassady, passed away on Friday, June 10, 2022 at MUSC Kershaw Health. Born in Camden, he was the son of the late Tommy Lee and Minnie Mae Bradley Cassady. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and retired from DuPont. He was a member of Cassatt Baptist Church where he was former deacon and taught Sunday School. He was an avid sports fan who enjoyed playing softball, coon hunting, Clemson Tigers Sports, and NASCAR. Mr. Cassady volunteered with Cassatt Fire Department.
Surviving are his children, Tony Cassady (Beverly) of Cassatt, Robin Walters of Camden, Kent Cassady (Melissa) of Cassatt and Glenda Robinson (Tommy) of Cassatt; sisters, Virginia Williams and Margaret Holley; 5 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; special family friend, Beth Drummond; and caregiver, Darlene Dixon. He was predeceased by son-in-law, Tappy Walters; brothers, Billy Webb and Henry Cassady; and sisters, Thelma Jackson, Polly Walden and Kay Cahill.
The family extends a special thanks to MUSC Kershaw Health ICU, Med II, Hospice and Kershaw County EMS for their loving care.
