Obituary of Janie B. Barrett

A Funeral Service for Janie B. Barrett, 91, will be held Thursday, April 28, 2022, at 2:00 P.M. at House of Prayer with Open Arms. Burial will follow in Refuge Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, April 27, 2022 from 5:00 to 7:00 at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff. The Rev. Donnie Barrett and the Rev. Nathan Barrett will be officiating the service.

                Mrs. Barrett was born March 14, 1931, to the late Steve and Annie Boone Baker in Kershaw County South Carolina. She spent the majority of her life working for Grace Bleachery as a Seamstress for 32 years. She enjoyed traveling, cooking, and gardening. She was a devoted member of House of Prayer with Open Arms. Mrs. Barrett was also a member of the Federation of the Blind and helped with her church group, the Acteens. Mrs. Barrett loved above all else her family, as she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

                Surviving are her sons, Donnie Barrett (Judy) of Kershaw and Alan “Al” Barrett (Kathy) of Kershaw; sister, Ella Mae Dennis (Tommy); grandchildren, Marc Barrett, Nathan Barrett, Jason Barrett, Stacey Barrett, Amy Vincent, Lisa Taylor and Scott Helms; and 18 great-grandchildren.

                She was predeceased by her beloved husband, George Barrett; parents, Steve and Annie Boone Baker; and sister Bernice Kelly.
