I met Judy my first year teaching in 1989, and we quickly became friends, carpooling to work, and eating lunch together everyday. Even though I moved away and we lived in different states, we remained friends and kept in touch until the past few years, when I wasn't able to reach her. However, I thought about her often and always wondered how she was, and was so saddened to recently learn of her passing. My friendship with Judy has been one of the most special friendships I have ever known, and I will always hold precious memories of her close to my heart.

I don't know what made me go looking for her today after almost 30 years... My heart is heavy, because if you ever got the opportunity to get to know this wonderful woman she was so warm and welcoming to everyone. She made such an impact on my life both as a friend and a teacher. She knew I didn't have a great home life so she took me under her wing. I was in her Miss ATEC pageant twice, I babysat for her and Tim to have date night, and I even went to the beach with them once. I was a kid and did stupid kid things that made me seem unappreciative. Being an adult and knowing I will never be able to repay her for the education she gave me both in school and out. RIP

I have so many memories of Judy for over 30 years, including her being a work study student, Miss Sumter Tech, a proud Winthrop graduate, a beautiful and happy bride, a lover of cruises and the beach, a dedicated teacher, a work partner with Tim, a loving mom, and a good friend. However, her many health issues over the last years took so much from her and her family, and we prayed for her healing. Although I am so sad for the loss of my friend, I know she is with our Lord and no longer in pain. I’m praying for Judy’s family to feel the love and comfort of our Lord and Savior and find peace in knowing she is indeed completely healed.
