COL Rupert Hurst Obituary

Camden – COL Hudson Rupert Hurst, USA, (ret), passed away peacefully in Camden, South Carolina on February 1, 2014. He was 95 years of age. COL Hurst was born in Tecumseh, Nebraska in 1918. He was predeceased by his parents, Dr. Daniel Webster Hurst and Julia Corson Swan, brother, Paul Hurst, sister, Mary Hurst Kiechel, and son, Hudson R. Hurst, Jr. He was married for over 71 years to Ruth Louise Peters of Elk Creek, Nebraska. He is survived by his wife Ruth, daughter Mary Ann, and numerous relatives. A memorial celebration of his life will be held at 2pm, Friday, March 14, 2014 at the Fort Jackson Main Post Chapel, 4580 Scales Avenue, Fort Jackson, S.C. 29207. Memorial donations may be made to The Quartermaster Foundation, Box 5230, Ft. Lee, VA, 23801; Arlington Cemetery, or other veterans organizations of donor’s choice.
