Obituary of John Earl Smith, Jr.

Lugoff - John E. Smith, Jr., 66, passed away December 26th, 2021 at MUSC Health Kershaw Medical Center. He was surrounded by his loved ones. 

    John was born in Marseille, France on May 29th, 1955 and raised by the late John E. Smith, Sr. and Christiane Smith.  Adored by his family and friends, John loved with passion and purpose. He was always known for his Zen-like, go with the flow- personality. Immune to the drama of the outside world, he was a perfect choice for hanging with on the back deck while listening to ZZ Top and sharing stories.

    He enjoyed motorcycles, camping, traveling, but most of all – boasted about the love he had for all his children and grandchildren. He was a very proud and loving husband, father, brother, son, and Pop-Pop. 

    Survived by his wife, of 32 years, Bernadette Smith. His sisters: Elizabeth Fornal (Tom), Christina Ferrar (Tony), and the late Kathryn Barry. His four beautiful children, daughters Lisa Ann Smith (Jon), Beverly Ann Smith (& Mickey), sons John Smith (Ryan), Jarrod Dale; and step-children Krista Deniz, Joshua Stoyanowski (Holly), Jeremy Stoyanowski, and 12 grandchildren. 

    A celebration of life service for John will be held Sunday January 2, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home in Lugoff, SC. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2-3 p.m. at the funeral home.
