Obituary of Doris P. Catoe

A service to celebrate the life of Doris Ponds Catoe, 76, will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Sandy Level Baptist Church with burial to follow in Sandy Level Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff.

Mrs. Catoe passed away Friday, December 24, 2021, surrounded by her family. Born in Kershaw County she was the daughter of the late Robert “Grady” and Lucille Clark Ponds. She retired as a security guard for the BBA. She enjoyed singing in the choir and serving the Lord. She also worked for Kershaw County voters registration until she became ill.

Surviving is her son, Albert L. Catoe; her daughters, Robin Catoe-Ellis (Joseph) and Kimberly Catoe (Anthony); brothers, Shelvis Ponds Sr. (Yvonne), John Ponds (Sylvia), Ronnie Ponds (Deborah), Kenneth “Kem” Ponds (Mill), Gary “Mitch” Pond (Pamela),; grandchildren Ra’Vaughn Catoe (Shanice), Jamauri Ellis, Jamoni Ellis, Ja’Nyah Jones; grandchildren, Tre’, Kam, and Ace; god-daughters, Alaina Samuels and Ciara Betts; and fur babies, Ruby and Duke.

She was pre-deceased by her husband, Albert R. Catoe; parents, Robert “Grady” Ponds and Lucille Clark Ponds; and brothers, Grady Ponds Jr., Calvin Ponds, Butch Ponds (Kathleen), and Levi Ponds.
