Obituary of Dorleen Sue Sprungl

Dorleen Sue Sprungl, 75, of Columbia, passed away on Thursday, December 9, 2021. Born in Maryland on May 17, 1946, she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Lillian Schmidt, and the wife of the late Robert R. R. Sprungl. She was a member of Swansea Church of God. Dorleen enjoyed playing bingo, crocheting, being outdoors, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed traveling and going to church. Dorleen loved her family and loved her dog, Little Man.

She is survived by her children, Melissa Branham, Michael Gillespie, and Michelle Gillespie; ten grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and her special friends, Patsy Marthis, Peggy Messer, Glenn Westbrook, and Joe.

In addition to her husband and parents, Dorleen was preceded in death by her daughter, Josie Albert; and her brother, Al Schmidt.

Memorial Services will be held at 1:00pm on Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff, officiated by Pastor Jim Sweeney. The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service. For those that are unable to attend, another Celebration of Life Service will be held at Swansea Church of God at 1:00pm on Saturday, December 18, 2021.
