Obituary of Carl Edward Perry

On November 30th, 2021, Carl Edward Perry, age 76, passed away at home after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.   Carl was born in Warren, Ohio the seventh child of Davis and Lucille Perry. 

He was the loving husband of Margaret Taranta Perry whom he married April 2, 1966.     He was the father of three daughters Deborah (R. Michael) DiRoberto, Rebecca (Thomas Glowacki) Perry, and Michelle (Steven) Sinclair and grandchildren Dominick and Gianna DiRoberto and Jared and Spencer Sinclair.

He was predeceased by his parents as well as sisters Edith, Betty, Loretta, Catherine, and Cheryl and brother Ronald.  He is survived by sister Denise (David) Granelly, and brothers Lyell (Sara), Larry, and Gary (Cindy) Perry.

Of his many accomplishments he was very proud of being a Navy aviator.  He was one of the first to fly with pilots of the SR 70/71 an early spy plane in 1964-66 at the time of a joint operation by the Navy and Airforce.  After leaving the Navy he joined the Air Force ART program for a number of years.    

While living in Vernon, Ohio he was a trustee member for the township, Harry Lee American legion post commander, little league and hot stove baseball coach for a number of years along with his full-time jobs.

After moving to South Carolina in 1990 he worked for Sunox/Holox/Linde gas company traveling to provide service for maintenance problems in several southeast locations.

Wherever Carl worked or lived he was always well respected, and his companions enjoyed his wonderful sense of humor.   He will be sadly missed by anyone who knew him.

A memorial service will be scheduled at Fort Jackson cemetery on Monday, December 6th at 10:00 am with a reception to follow at Carl’s home.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorials to be sent to Alzheimer’s association or the charity of your choice.
