Obituary of Joseph Brian Cox
LEXINGTON - On October 26th, 2021, Joseph Brian Cox, of Lexington, South Carolina passed away at the age of 56. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Dava; son and daughter-in-law, Peyton and Ashton; daughter and son-in-law, Alexandria and Chris; two grandsons, Slade and Bishop; parents, MaryEllen and Jerry Smith Vardon and Merry Cox; siblings, Matt (Reagan), Tara (Ben), and Brandon Cox; nephews, Reed, Eli and Benjamin; and niece, Mattie.
Brian was born in Gastonia, North Carolina on October 12th, 1965. He grew up in Due West graduated from Dixie High School, and then joined the Marine Corps in 1983. He later opened his own carpet installation businesses and was subsequently injured on a job. His new job, that he was awesome at, was a stay-at-home dad, the most important job of all, and he did an outstanding job. He was an expert when it came to hunting of any kind. He could read the signs of the animals. He was also very good at teaching others how to become experts at it as well. He, his brothers and son always hunted the first day of deer season and at least one would bring home a deer, if not all of them. There's not a person that knew Brian that would say he was a quiet man. On the contrary, he loved life and his family, and took every opportunity to let you know. He had the memory of an elephant, was smart as a whip, and was a great storyteller, with animation and all; he probably should have been an actor. Sadly the family has lost a unique loving and loyal man.
A memorial serivce will be held on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at 11am at Greenville Presbyterian Church, 205 Greenville Church Rd, Donalds, SC 29638. The family would like to thank you for your kind words of sympathy and presence.
