Obituary of Ethel Anne Stack
CAMDEN - Ethel Anne Cain Stack passed away to be with Jesus, her Savior, on October 20, 2021. At 84, she finished her race peacefully and comfortably in the presence of loving family. She is survived by her three children, Donna (“J”) Thompson, James (Charlotte) Stack and Patrick (Susan) Stack; her six precious grandchildren, Jim (Sara) Thompson, Daniel (Sarah) Thompson, Kevin Crumpton, Susie Stack, Katie Stack and Emily Stack; and her five great grandchildren, Caira Crumpton, James Thompson, V, Anna Thompson, Ray Thompson and Jay Thompson.
Ethel was born on December 9, 1936, in Camden, SC to the late Dessie Cameron and Lee Cain. She is also predeceased by her loving husband of nearly 64 years, Jimmy Donald Stack, and her brothers and sisters Henry (Totsie) Scott, Mazie (Robert) Croft, Mack (Vernell) Cain and Jerry (Alice) Cain.
For twenty years, Ethel helped serve our country as an Army spouse. In addition to the service that is part of being a military family, Ethel was a loving servant at heart. She also served in her favorite roles as wife, mother, grandmother, and sister with love, devotion, and excellence. She had an amazing sense of hospitality and outreach to others, and she was an engaged and caring friend and neighbor.
After a long life of gladly focusing on others, the last few years afforded her an opportunity to be served by others daily as she resided in assisted living, including memory care for the last year and a half. Her family is thankful for the joy of getting to serve her as she did for us and grateful for the many people in various facilities who cared for and loved her daily.
Ethel’s Celebration of Life Service will be Sunday, October 24, 2021, at First Baptist Church, Camden, SC at 3:00 PM. Visitation with the family will be in the sanctuary at 2:00 PM.
If desired, memorials may be made to a church or charity of your choice or to St. Jude’s Children’s Home.
