Sylvia “Sibby” Moree Statham, 69, born April 15, 1952, of Elgin S.C., passed away October 14, 2021, peacefully surrounded by her children at MUSC Kershaw Hospice Care.

A native of Chester, S.C., Sibby was the daughter of the late Woodrow “Woody” Autry and Joyce Wright Autry. She retired from Department of the Army civilian service at Fort Jackson Chaplain Center and School. Sibby was a devoted army wife for 20+ years making every military housing unit a warm and comfortable home for her family. Sibby loved to dance, her favorite pastime was shag dancing at the beach. Sibby’s heart was bigger than anyone could ever imagine, filled with love and compassion with an occasional spice. Sibby without a doubt made her mark, touching the lives of many, the world was a better place just for having her in it. Through her, we know what resilience and perseverance truly looked like. Sibby loved fiercely, especially her children and they adored her immensely. While her passing is a tremendous loss to her family and friends, Sibby will always live within the hearts of those she leaves behind.

Left to cherish her memory are her son Kelly L. Statham (Sharon) of Elgin, S.C.; daughter, Stacy A. Statham (Gerry) of Chapin, S.C.; three grandchildren, Carlee L. Statham (15), Lydia B. Statham (11) and Lucas T. Stacy (2); three brothers, Mike Autry (Susan) of Lancaster, S.C., Tim Autry (Jane) of Suwanee, GA., and Ronnie Autry (Tammy) of Surfside Beach S.C.;  sister, Cindy Evans (Chuck) of Great Falls, S.C.; numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews; and a very special friend, Josie Cantey of Lugoff, S.C. She was predeceased by her dear brother, Donnie Autry of Chester, S.C.

Per her wishes, a celebration will be held privately. If you would like to honor Sibby please grab a partner, be young, be foolish, but be happy.
