Obituary of Sylvia Ann Smith Huggins

Sylvia Ann Smith Huggins, 66, of Lugoff, passed away on Tuesday, October 12, 2021. Born in Camden, she was the daughter of the late Catherine Smith Hunt and was raised by the late Jessie and Mitchell Portee. She was the wife of Ben Huggins, Jr. Sylvia attended Kershaw County public schools and graduated from Camden High. She was a member of Unity United Methodist Church in Lugoff, where she also served as an Usher. Sylvia loved spending time with her grandkids and enjoyed watching TV and movies.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Mitchell Portee, Benjamin Huggins, Joshua Huggins (Tiffany), and April Huggins; grandchildren, Shiquan Portee, Michael Portee, Trevor Clack, Tyler Dixon, Jashaun Huggins, K’dasia Dixon, Jaden Dixon, Laken Diggs, Kylie Salmond, and Aiden Huggins; a great-grandchild, Aleah Billingsley; siblings, Linda Baysinger, Howard Hunt (Natasha), Terry Hunt, Antoinette Hunt, Michael Hunt, and Ervin Hunt; sisters-in-law, Lottie Alston and Georgia Mae Barksdale; brother-in-law, Albert Huggins; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents, Sylvia was preceded in death by her siblings, Rosa Mae Hunt, Richard Hunt, Steve Hunt, and Brian Hunt.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff. Burial will follow in Unity United Methodist Church Cemetery. A Public Viewing will be held at the funeral home from 9-5pm on Monday, October 18, 2021.
