Obituary of Eva Laverne Rabon

Eva Laverne Raines Rabon, 87, of Elgin, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, October 5, 2021, after a courageous battle with cancer. Mrs. Rabon was the daughter of the late Eva Mae and Louie Raines of Brevard, NC. Eva was an Air Force wife for 20+ years to her late husband, William Stanley Rabon of Elgin, (formerly Blaney) SC.  They were married for 57 years. She traveled with “Bill” and her three children to Bitburg, Germany and Clark Air Force Base in the Philippines during Bill’s time with the Air Force and Civil Service. She wrote Christian-Country music and composed her own lead and melody sheets. She was a fabulous singer, an excellent seamstress, and a great cook. She enjoyed having family and friends over for special dinners and holidays. Eva enjoyed shopping, golfing, trips to the beach, and movies and lunches with her nieces Doris and Virginia and her friend, Pat- all the while dressed to the nines.   She always looked forward to going to church on Sundays.  Eva was a wonderful wife, mother, and friend. Most of all, she loved her Lord Jesus Christ and her family.

Mrs. Rabon is survived by her daughters, Cozette Gaviria (Carlos) and Kim Duncan; son, William Stanley “Bill” Rabon, Jr.; her granddaughter, Erica Page (John); grandson, Richard “Dakota” Duncan; and great-granddaughters, Lily and Emily Page.  She was predeceased by her sisters, Wilma Lance and Yvonne Smith; and twin brothers, Warren and Wallace Raines.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 3:00pm on Sunday, October 10, 2021 at Union Baptist Church, Elgin, officiated by Rev. Jacob Helsley. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service, beginning at 2:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Union Baptist Church, PO Box 116 Elgin, SC  29045, Blaney Baptist Church, PO Box 305 Elgin, SC 29045, or to the Kershaw County Humane Society.
