Obituary of Hattie Barnes Dixon

CAMDEN- Hattie Barnes Dixon, 74, of Camden, S.C. died Tuesday, September 14, 2021. She was born on October 3, 1946 in Camden, S.C. to the late Albert and Hannah Austin Barnes.

    Mrs. Dixon was married to the late Eugene Matthew Dixon and they were the parents to Valarie Dixon, Stacey Dixon (Elizabeth), and Sonya Dixon, all of Camden. She was the grandmother to Teneka Nieves (Kris) of Maryland and Brooke Dixon of Lugoff; and great-grandmother to Kamyah Nieves of Maryland.

    She was predeceased in death by her parents and brothers, Dan Barnes and William Hunter; and sisters, Sally Murphy and Catherine Murphy.

    Along with her children and grandchildren; she leaves behind to mourn her loss sisters, Susie Scott of Lugoff, Rosa Lee Barnes of New Haven, Connecticut, Williene Dixon of Lugoff, Gracie Brown of Camden, Mary Gaskins of Camden; and brothers, David Barnes of Camden and Harold Hunter of Lugoff. She also leaves behind a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

     A graveside service will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in Unity United Methodist Church Cemetery. A public viewing will be held Friday from 2-4 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home.
