In some cultures and to paraphrase, when two people marry, they marry not only each other, they marry each other's family members. The quiet support given throughout the years to our cousin, "Bird", your wife, and so many of us meant so much as we navigated our way through our trial(s)]. You are so loved and missed, "T".

A true 1930’s renaissance man who was born into life from humble beginnings. However, he made nothing into everything remarkable! His speaking voice was unmistakably one of a kind. It was the sound of soulful Jazz & a Black southern movie star. I was born and raised in Fairfield County, Ct (youngest of Jerry Knight & Alice Keys Knight ) sister in law of Howard Joy. I was raised around Uncle Tee during the mid 1960’s as an adolescent child. My mom & dad made sure that we took road trip to connect with my cousins & relatives in Essex/Morris County (Morristown) NJ area throughout the year. My dad would gather us all in the car and away we went. I was small enough to ride on the backseat armrest during the entire trip. I would site-seeing fromCT to NYC enroute to NJ. Mom would fill the cooler with snacking, and I would chat for 2.5 hours from hectic (1-95 north to 95 South )en route to Essex & Morris County NJ. There I was greeted by family with smiles of JOY. The house was filled with good food, laughter and traditions. Aunt Byrd & Uncle Tee would rule their home like a king and queen and I would respected their command. My first cousins (Howard, Audrey, Karen , Michael & Greg ) was all I needed for an action packed holiday weekend! It was then that I learned about heritage, tradition & respecting elders. His love of hospitality was proven through his preparation of delish seafood dishes,
his natural talent of agriculture and fishing, and his affinity for creating beautiful outdoors spaces fir his family. His unconditional love spoke volumes and he shared his wisdom with family, friends & strangers. His knowledge of Lower Manhattan (Chinatown) was awesome. He would travel each day @ 2:00am from NJ to purchaser fresh seafood for a local market in affluent Morris County, NJ. It was then he shared his knowledge of the highways and the best route to travel throughout the CT, NJ, NY tristate . He introduced me to the Tappan Zee Bridge. I learned a different way to travel & the distance was shorter. I guess my dad was afraid to travel the Merritt Parkway in Connecticut with deer’s and no street lights.. Thanks uncle T for giving me hope, support and life skills. You brought my family JOY through some of our darkest moments! You showed me that triumph matters over tradegy and perseverance over set back! Rest well until I see you dance the “boogaloo” again! Nephew Mykal Knight
