Joe was a faithful and active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Ridgeway Ward. He was a graduate of Winnsboro High School and Sumter Technical College. He served in the United States Air Force and was a Vietnam War veteran, having served at Tan San Nhat Air Base. He served his country well and represented the Air Force to the highest degree with his technical skills and mechanical abilities. Joe enjoyed gardening, farming his land, driving his tractor, building and constructing and helping all who needed him at any time. He was always willing to go the extra mile for his family, friends and neighbors. He never wanted any attention for himself; he quietly went about helping others. He was a devoted husband to Janet, a loving father and grandfather. He loved all of his family very much and always wanted the best for them and for them to succeed in life. He always set a good example for others to follow.
Janet would like to sincerely thank the Dorn VA Medical Center Oncology Department and all their staff for the great care, attention, and love they gave to Joe, as well as SC Oncology Associates and especially the home care shown to him by the nursing staff at Compassionate Care Hospice during the last 5 months.
