Obituary of Charles Newton Skipper

CAMDEN- A funeral service for Charles Newton Skipper, 87, will be held Thursday at 4:00 pm at Powers Funeral Home with burial to follow in Malvern Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The Rev. Danny Hedgepath will officiate. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 3-4 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Judes Children’s Hospital.

    Mr. Skipper passed away Saturday, August 14, 2021. Born in Hartsville, he was a son of the late Newton Elbert and Luvenia Harden Skipper. Mr. Skipper enjoyed going to car auctions, buying old cars and restoring them, collecting things, and traveling to the beach and the mountains. He loved his family above all.

    Surviving are his wife of 69 years, Sylvia Hancock Skipper; children, Shelia Arledge of Camden, Charles Michael Skipper of Camden, Tony Carol Skipper of Camden; grandchildren, Chrystal Hinson (Eric), Trampes Arledge (Kelly), Scottie Skipper, Michelle Jenkins; brothers, Ted Skipper (Diane), William Skipper (Sherry); sister, Patricia Gardner (Gary); and 10 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by siblings, Jackie Skipper, Sarah Young, Naomi Caddell and Mary McCarthy; son-in-law, Buddy Arledge; and a daughter-in-law, Lois Therresa Skipper.
