Obituary of George Williams, Sr.
On Thursday, July 22, 2021, God dispatched His angels to bring home the soul of our beloved father, brother, papa, uncle, and friend, George Williams, Sr. after a brief illness in Columbia, SC.
George Williams, Sr. was born February 22, 1944, to the late Benjamin F. and Lehana Kelly Williams in Bethune, SC. In 1965, he was united in holy matrimony to the late Ethel Louise “Doll Baby” Brown Williams, and through this union they were blessed with two loving sons. George later dedicated his life to the Lord. He was a faithful and loyal member of King Street Church of Christ in Camden, SC, where he served as a Deacon. Our beloved George was a perfectionist and a hard worker. He was a loyal employee for many years to Mr. Tommy Burkett and retired from Wateree Textile Corp. after 30 years of service.
George was preceded in death by his brothers, Henry, Frank, and Elijah Williams; and sisters, Evelyn and Joyce Williams.
Surviving to forever cherish his loving memories are his two sons, George Williams, Jr. (Karen) of Chesapeake, VA and Kelvin Lemont Williams, Sr. of Camden, SC; Nine grandchildren, Iman V. Williams of Miami, FL, DeAngelo A. Watson, Kiara M., and Amari Joi Williams, all of Chesapeake, VA, Ebony C. Williams of Rock Hill, SC, LT. Kelvin L. Williams, Jr. of Germany, Deaja and Kjon Williams of Atlanta, GA, and Tyrone Gregg of Bishopville, SC; Two sisters, Janice Lee of Bethune, SC and Virgin Clark (Kenneth) of Camden, SC; Two brothers, Jessie and Stanley Williams, both of Bethune, SC; Eleven great-grandchildren, four sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and special loving friends.
The family will receive friends from 5-7pm on Friday, August 6, 2021, at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff.
Funeral services will be held at 11am on Saturday, August 7, 2021, at Powers Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Mill Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, Bethune, SC.
