Obituary of Hebron Stokes Lyell

LUGOFF- Funeral services for Hebron Mae Stokes Lyell, 91, will be held Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home with burial to follow in Quaker Cemetery. The Rev. Bruce Watford will officiate. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1-2 p.m. at the funeral home.

    Mrs. Lyell passed away Friday, July 2, 2021. Born in the Sandy Grove community of Kershaw County, she was a daughter of the late Hebron C. Stokes and Viola Stokes Huggins. Mrs. Lyell enjoyed crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, yardwork, gardening, cooking for her family, and church gatherings. She played the piano and organ at many churches and assisted living facilities around Kershaw County for over 40 years. Mrs. Lyell was retired from the Kershaw County School system and continued to work there part time until she was in her late 80's.  

    Surviving are her sons, Terry Lyell (Billie) of Lugoff, Danny Lyell (Deborah) of Lugoff; grandchildren, Laurie Lyell (Tony), Lindsey Lyell, Terry “T.J.” Lyell, Jr., Jessica Norris (Daniel); great-grandchildren, Mason Martin, Kaia Martin, Easton Norris, Ava Norris and Hudson Norris. She was predeceased by a daughter, Barbara Lynn Lyell; and siblings, Robert Stokes, David Stokes, Simon Stokes, Wallace Stokes, and John Stokes.
