EASTOVER – Graveside service for Johnny McCants Porter, 75, will be held Monday, January 20, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. in Higgins-Porter Cemetery, located on White Pond Rd, Elgin, S.C. The family will receive friends Sunday 4-6 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. Mr. Porter died Thursday, January 16, 2014. Born in Blaney, he was the son of the late Herbert Wayland Porter and Susie Mae Miles Porter Walker. He served in the United States Navy and retired from construction. He enjoyed farming, gardening, fishing and watching Westerns. Surviving are his wife, Deloris Ann Hampton Porter; children, Sharon Porter Spivey (Ralph), Johnny Eugene Porter, Terry Anthony Porter, Susan Porter Bradshaw (Edwin), and William Herbert Porter; sister, Ina Simpson of Raleigh, N.C.; brother, Wayland Porter (Frances) of Jacksonville Beach, Fla., 10 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by sisters, Betty Jean Porter and Patricia Elaine Porter Rollins; and brother, Jody Herbert Porter.
