Obituary of Warren Lee Raines
Warren Lee Raines, 84, of Elgin, SC, and formerly of Pittsburgh, PA, passed away on Friday June 11, 2021. Born in Pittsburgh on January 15, 1937, he was the son of the late Lonnie Lee and Clara Geyer Raines, and the husband of Jackie Dawson Raines. Warren retired after 22 years from the US Army, where he served in the Vietnam War. He attended NC State University on a pole-vaulting scholarship. His passion for sports led him to coaching high school football and pole-vaulting. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Penguins fan. He enjoyed building model trains, woodworking, traveling, and camping with his family. Warren deeply loved his wife, his children, and his country. He was a true patriot and will be missed by those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
In addition to his wife of almost 61 years, he is survived by his children, Warren Lee “Jake” Raines, Jr., Beverly R. Roberson (Len), and Georgianna R. Pritchett; grandchildren, Justin Raines, Jake A. Pritchett (Emily Shyann), Kelli P. Ingram, Robert Raines, Brandon Raines, Jordan Raines, and Danielle Dupre; great-grandchildren, Evan Ingram, Harrison Pritchett, Kolson Pritchett, Collin Ingram, and Ryan Ingram; and his nephew, Bruce Raines (Aline).
In addition to his parents, Warren was preceded in death by his son, John Robert Raines; brother, James Raines; and sister-in-law, Alberta Mae Raines.
A memorial service with military honors will be held at 11am on Friday, June 25, 2021 at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, Columbia, SC.
