Obituary of Shirley Carter Jackson

LUGOFF – A visitation for Shirley Carter Jackson, 79, will be held on Friday from 10am – 3pm at Powers Funeral Home. Funeral will begin at 3pm with a burial to follow the service in Cedar Cemetery.

Shirley Carter Jackson was born on September 18, 1941 in Kershaw County to the late William and Rebecca Carter. After a brief illness God decided to give her eternal rest. He called her home on May 14, 2021 at Lexington Medical Center, Lexington, S.C.

She was educated in the public schools of Kershaw county. She graduated from Jackson High School in 1959. After graduating from high school, she relocated to New Rochelle, N.Y. She moved back to S.C. in 2011. In 1963 she was joined in holy matrimony to the late Edward Napoleon Jackson. To this union three children were born: Lisa Michelle Jackson (who preceded her in death), Janine Nicole Jackson, and Edward Michael Jackson.

She worked at Barclays Bank, New Rochelle, Bank of New York, White Plains, New York, and Virgin Airlines in Bridgeport, Ct., where she retired in 2010. In her spare time, she loved traveling and shopping.

Shirley leaves to cherish her memories, her daughter, Janine Nicole Green, New Rochelle, N.Y.; son, Edward Michael Jackson, Richmond, Va.; grandchildren, Mecca Nicole Jackson, Atlanta, Ga., Jordan Alexander Green, New Rochelle, N.Y.; Syeria McGhee, New Rochelle, N.Y.; Aribba and Zyer Jackson, New Bronx, N.Y.; great-grandchildren, Jermaine, Jihanna, Little Mecca, Shawn, and Taylon; sisters, Rebecca B.
