Obituary of Hazel Glenn Brakefield
CAMDEN – A graveside service for Hazel Glenn Brakefield, 88, will be held on Thursday, May 27, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in Armenia United Methodist Church Cemetery in Chester, S.C. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lyttleton Street United Methodist Church, 1206 Lyttleton Street, Camden, S.C. 29020.
Mr. Brakefield passed away on Saturday, May 1, 2021. Born in Chester, S.C., he was the son of the late George Hennis and Marie Dove Brakefield. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and retired from Winn Dixie where he was a District Supervisor. He was a member of Lyttleton Street United Methodist Church. Mr. Brakefield enjoyed the outdoors and enjoyed gardening, hunting and fishing. He was a past member and officer of Sand Hill Beagle Club. In the early 90’s his beagle Ben was an American Kennel Club (AKC) field champion.
Surviving are his daughter, Cindy B. Johnson (Mike) of Lexington; grandchildren, Leonard Anderson of Chapin, S.C., Jay Grant (Alyssa) of Mt. Pleasant, S.C., Byron Grant (Caroline) of Portland, Oregon; and great-grandchildren, Carlie Anderson, Aiden Anderson and Rylie Grant. He was predeceased by daughter, Glenda Ann Brakefield; granddaughter, Elyse Anderson; and brothers, Ralph Brakefield, Frank Brakefield and Robert Brakefield.
