Obituary of Joel "Butch" Kelly

ELGIN – A celebration of life service for Joel Pinckney “Butch” Kelly, 77, will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. The Rev. Eric Boone will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pine Grove Baptist Church Building Fund or Gideon’s International.

    Mr. Kelly passed away Tuesday, April 20, 2021. Born in Columbia, he was a son of the late Boyd Elbert and Elizabeth Frier Kelly. Mr. Kelly was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church. He retired from Allied Chemical and was currently working for Roy’s Wood Products in Lugoff. He enjoyed metal detecting, fishing, and camping.

    Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Phyllis Branham Kelly; children, Joellen Kelly Terry (Mitch) of Columbia, Joel Brantt Kelly (Gladys) of Elgin, Elizabeth Nell Martin of Elgin; 9 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.  He was predeceased by siblings, Anne Marie Farmer and Elbert Allen Kelly.
